NO... I WAS NEVER IN THE 'DOOBIE BROTHER'S'
But that sure would have been great!
'Great Googalee Moogalee!' Would it have been!
I think i came pretty close, without even trying!.
I managed to live through my 1950s years. Big sister. 8 years older than i. Put in charge when my folks started their break up. Ha! Boy, did i have fun Fuckin with her! Ha! Ha!
At 7. I was the TERROR of Porterville, California. I drove the town crazy. Before the Hells Angles ever rolled into town. (circa. 1957)
At my folks final spilt up a few months later. I found my ass in a Military School in Long Beach.
(i.e. Southern California Military Academy) I got thrown out of there at 10.
1960 found me on the streets of Long Beach, in the Signal Hill district. We lived just 3 blocks from that military school. Seems ...I had been sneaking out the side window of my barracks for over 2 years. I knew every kid in the area. I even hung out at the school, i ended up at. Got my first real piece of ass that year! It sure felt good!!!!... Ha!
Been a pussy hound ever since.
Oh yeah! Where was i... Now, i was on the streets of Long Beach, with a whole new outlook on life.
Then ...a few years in Covina, Ca. 'Eva D. Edwards Jr. High'. Beatles came out that year (1964)
That! Changed everything.
My dad got married to a wonderful woman in Redlands, California.
NOW! I have two new brothers, and a new sister. They are very cool kids. 1 my age, 15. Scott.
Sister 17... If there is a picture next to the term 'Surfer Girl' She is it. Perfect straight Blonde hair to her waist. 105 pounds. Great Tan. Great personality, Excellent Surfer. Very popular. The one the Beach Boy's were singing about.
New little brother. Rusty, 12. One crazy red head ...I tell you!
We became best friends, and brothers ...instantly!
That lasted awhile...
THEN! ...I started spending the summers with my mom in Texas. Surfed everyday, Played Rock & Roll, Warm Water. Chicks. And... Kids more in tune with my out look on life. California was just to fuckin stuck up! Girls were easier in Texas. Everything was better there in south Texas at the beach! EVERYTHING!
So... in 1965/66. I stayed full time in Texas.
That didn't last long though.
As 1967 came closer. I was counting the days before i received my 'Greeting's From The President'! When the lottery was pulled that year. My number was 2. I was a goner that spirng.
I couldn't let that happen.
I would have been shot in the back 5 steps off the plane in Nam! And.. I knew it!
I had to go. ............I had too.
So. ...I decided to make sure i had at least... Something to say about how involved my hypocrisies would go.
So... In August 67... I Enlisted, in the Navy. To make my Dad proud, and serve my country with out getting blasted out of my skull!
Lucked out and got shore duty in Pensacola Florida. Worked on Base all day. And, Ran a surf shop off base at night & on weekends. Had a long hair wig to where to go out with my long haired band and party surfer friends in town.
Worked out great.. Till i came back to base one night ...IN said, wig and hippie garb. Got busted at the front gate. Right to the brig. Captains mass the next morning. Off to a ship in Nam the next day.
That was not there. Shore Duty Again!
Its all in the books. I came home in 1969 to a whole new thing. That is what these books are about!
And, where the story starts. The day at the open of book one. Is the day of 'Kent State'
